Update from Government Affairs Chairman, Jeff Click

The City of Oklahoma City recently reached out to us to let us know of a few important developments regarding technology upgrades at the City. These upgrades are one step to our overall goal of working with the city to streamline the permitting and inspection process to save time and money for our members.

The city has just announced that insulation contractors who rely on the City of OKC for Insulation inspections can now request insulation inspections online as well as track their status. This will bring several benefits to builders and other trades. First, a builder can now more easily track scheduling for subsequent phases of construction. Second, our insulation contractors no longer need to waste hours on the phone calling to request or track the results of inspections.

These automated features can be accessed on the city’s website at okc.gov/access.

This is just a first step in our efforts to work with the city in upgrading the technology to support our builders and developers. We have had several preliminary meetings and discussions regarding online plan review for subdivisions.  We’ve been told that the initial framework for this upgrade will be available in the next few months. We will keep you updated on this and other efforts as information becomes available.
