Monday evening we hosted our first President’s Reception (New Member Orientation) in our education room. The twelve new members and our membership committee witnessed a first. While I was sharing some info about our campus to our new members, I jokingly said; “I bet our tech guy can control this equipment from his house.” That’s when David Brookshire stepped out and called our tech guy (Jeff Click) and seconds later the motorized screen was coming down, the lights were dimming and the COHBA logo came into focus directly above the words “President’s Reception 1.25.11”. I found out later that Jeff did this while changing a diaper. Very cool! But Jeff, what are you doing with your Ipad at the changing table?
Tuesday, I attended my first NW Council luncheon. I was very impressed! There was a great mix of builders and associates and I believe the overall attendance was just over 50. I don’t think that the attendance would have been as good if it wasn’t for the extra effort Ronnie Clay (NW Council Chairman) put in. Ronnie took the time to make personal phone calls in addition to the e-mailed invites that were sent out. Thank you Ronnie! Great meeting!
This Thursday evening, weather permitting, we will host our first General Membership meeting at our new location. This is an excellent opportunity for you to come see the campus, witness first hand our state-of-the-art technology “stuff” and socialize with others in our industry. Social hour begins at 6:00pm and dinner will be at 7:00. After dinner we will hear from our speaker for the evening, Steve Agee, Professor of Economics, Meinders School of Business/OCU. I hope that you will be able to attend this meeting and be sure to personally invite another member or someone that should be a member.
Don’t forget to disconnect any hoses.
